Looking Back and Giving Praise

It has been said and proven that we are creatures of habit especially in our actions. I believe that to be the case sometimes even in our expectations. The Bible is filled with God’s promises that He will never forsake us or fail us. However in times of our greatest challenges we wonder . . . and that wondering potentially turns into doubt.

It is nearly impossible to resist basing our future expectations on past experiences. However that is where faith is supposed to overshadow fact! No longer can we predict what happened in our past to repeat itself in our present or future.

Every sunrise that we’re able to see is our sign that God is ready, willing, and able to do something new. No matter how great or how disappointing today is there will be a tomorrow and it will be new! How we approach each new day is our sign of communication to God that we’re anticipating something new. Isaiah 43: 19 declares “Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.”

The one word that we should not overlook in this verse is “spring”. The dictionary says that “spring” means to appear, to bound, or leap forth suddenly. So when you least expect it, that’s when God will do it! The natural man has a tendency to predict or even dictate what our NEW should or will be. But if we allow the spiritual man to prevail, we will pray that His will become our will in all our desires. The verses that follow tell us why He wants to do this for His chosen people. It says “This people have I formed for myself: they shall shew forth my praise”.

So He’s doing all that He does for us in order that we might give Him praise and honor Him. I look at this way, the more He does, the more we praise Him, and the more we praise Him, the more He does. God designed and desired it to be a continuous cycle!

Daily I am looking back over my life and giving God praise for ALL that He has done for me. I even told my husband the other day that there are a couple of things God worked out recently for me that took place so smoothly it caught me off guard. So I’m going back over those things and praising Him more intently because I can never thank Him enough.

In the process, I am also telling Him, “okay God I’m waiting on you because I’m ready for something new, something greater and when it comes I’m going to praise you for it with my whole heart!” Won’t you join me and reflect over all the marvelous things God has done in your life and then tell Him you’re ready for the NEW!!!
